TIP FOR JAC/WIN COMPETITION PARTICIPANTS

JAC Film School and its partner WIN respect the creative works of writers and support their protection. According to African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), copyright protection encourages creativity and information exchange. ARIPO also encourages creators to register their works with ‘the copyright office for purposes of, for example, identifying and distinguishing titles of works’.

It is within this context that JAC/WIN would like to tip writers who are concerned with the protection of their intellectual property. Register your works. There are various sites where you can register but we found the WGA West Registry as one of the best where you can register your film ideas.

Meanwhile, JAC/WIN would like to elucidate the issue of submitting an extract (that meets competition regulations) from a complete longer work. If you are submitting an extract from a screenplay then it will be beneficial to give a short log line capturing what your screenplay is about in less than 25 words and also provide a brief introduction to the characters appearing in the scene in less than 100 words.

Thank you.

Stay safe from COVID-19. Let’s join hands and fight this pandemic!
